Remember me??

Wow! I cannot believe it has been so long since I posted on my blog. I guess life just got busy. It is amazing how my life has changed over the last year or so. New friends, new jobs, new responsibilities... but it is all great! I feel like life is going pretty good, which can be scary because you just know the shoe will drop. lol Yes, I am a pessimist! :( If anyone is out there reading, I promise to catch up soon. Sadly, my dishes need done.

The wedding shower

Our church gave JM and Shelbie a wedding shower on Sunday. Terrie did a great job at decorating in a "beachy" type theme. Pastor prayed for JM first, then Mrs. Reese prayed for Shelbie. It was great. We then got our food and separated. The men in one room the ladies in another. The men gave JM advice on how to be a good husband and have a good marriage. My hubby told me that a lot of great advice was given and I am thankful. Of course, they had their fun moments, but they also had serious time. My hubby was encouraged by it all and hopefully JM took it all in. Some of the men provided JM with some manly gifts. One favorite was...
It is a joke in our church for JM to just say "yes dear" and move on. So someone got him a hat that says "yes dear" lol. We all got a kick out of it.

Shelbie had a the normal type of shower. We played games and gave out prizes. It was a fun time. She had a lot of gumballs in her mouth after she missed some questions about JM though. lol Terrie made them a little difficult though. Poor Shelbie! She got a lot of nice gifts and cute gifts. I was overwhelmed at the love my church family showed them.

As I was carrying the presents from one area to the other, if finally hit me that my baby was getting married. This was all real and that he will soon be a husband. That was an overwhelming thought to me. I knew it was coming and I knew it was happening but WOW! This was a real eye opener that in 19 days, my JM will be married. He won't be MY JM anymore, but Shelbie's JM. ~sigh~ Being a mom is tough, ya know.

One final picture to make you smile...
This is after all the games and the presents were opened. Don't they look cute? lol

Happy New Year!!

Okay, so I am a touch late, but hey... it still works right? It is only half way through January. Wow! Already half way through January. Time just flies by the older you get.

Seth got a full grant for college! Yeah! That was a load off our minds. He rented his textbooks. Now he needs to work on getting his license and a car. We are going to have a hard time when JM moves in June. He helps us a lot with his car. Going to one car will be hard. Hopefully we will have another car by then. That isn't for a while, so...

JM finished last semester with a 4.0. I am so proud of him! Amazingly that was a bonus when it came to our car insurance!! Wow!

Shelbie is visiting today and tomorrow. JM is going to play a special at church for her tomorrow. I don't know if she knows it yet or not. Her favorite hymn is "It is Well" so he will be playing that. I love to hear him play myself. I miss having a regular piano. It drove me crazy a lot, but when you don't have it, you miss it.

Not much else is happening. Just trying to stay afloat. JB's hours have been cut for the next little while. I am not sure how we will manage but I am sure it will work out. We have made it this far. Oh! I might be getting a small job myself cleaning the church. That will give us some income. Every little bit helps!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, a safe and Happy New Year!

Another one in college!

Seth applied, was accepted, and will be registering today for college! He is going to the local community college. It is cheaper to get those core stuff out of the way than at a university. IF he graduates with a 4.0, he will get a free ride to the local university as well! I expect him to try his hardest, but I won't get down on him if he doesn't. He plans on going two days a week so he can still work a good schedule and is planning on full time. I am so proud of him and JM both!

JM and Shelbie are planning a wedding in January 2012. They are trying to find a place to have it and the reception right now. It is so expensive. I keep trying to talk them into something really simple, but you can't tell a girl that I guess. I just don't see the point in spending all that money and going into debt just to say "I do." We had a VERY simple wedding and reception with about 20 people and we are still happily married for over 22 yrs. It is their choice, so whatever. lol

I didn't decorate much for Christmas this year. I put some lights up around the window, I got the snowman that my step-dad made, I have a wreath up, and my Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

That is pretty much it. Oh! I have stockings but haven't put them up. Not sure where to do that yet. Just a simple Christmas. As with everyone, finances are tight. I plan on getting each child one gift and then if I have the money, get them another. Just one step at a time. lol I am sure they will be happy with the one gift as they are not greedy and they know it is tough. I got good children. :-)
